Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Luke 6:36-38

Practice mercy to receive it. Abundant forgiveness is poured out on those who themselves give and forgive.

We are not Christians in order to merely be as good as a person can naturally be, but to draw on supernatural Grace to show mercy to others. Who do we as believers want to be? Who is our role model? If it is Christ, who on the cross said “forgive them”, we cannot accept anything short of total mercy from ourselves.
