All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18

The purpose and mission of Christian life is bringing back together what has been separated. Just as the peacemaker in the Beatitudes can only make peace where there is conflict, the ministry of reconciliation can only take place where separation has occurred. Indeed, reconciliation with God, but beyond that, the ministry is reenacting that reconciliation, modelling it in our lives and not just paying lip service to our great example. We must call in all those who will hear.
