One thing I ask from the Lord,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
    and to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 27:4

During his lifetime, David was not permitted to build a temple to God, and yet he composed songs about his wish to worship God in the temple. He was able to worship in the tabernacle and to see the ark of the covenant returned, but he still wrote songs to the Lord expressing his deep desire to meet him in his holy temple.

Do we seek God in the same way? Do we desire to find him in places out of our reach, earnestly praying to meet him there? Do we seek to dwell in his presence?

David’s temple wasn’t a building, it was a relationship between himself and the Lord.
