This passage comes in the midst of the reading of the scriptures during Nehemiah’s restoration. The people had been weeping at the reading, but Nehemiah and the leaders all told them that this was a time of rejoicing, not sadness.

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Nehemiah 8:10

When we feast, we feed everyone. Our celebration of God happens at the biggest table possible!
