Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

Titus 1:7

Church leaders are to be the kind of men you’d want as a father, the kind of leaders who are leading because they care. Though many outside leaders want power or control for the sake of their own gain, God wants servants to lead his household. Where the world wants leaders that profit them, even at the cost of others, God calls for his leaders to hold qualifications that uplift and reassure everyone. Perhaps that’s what is most important here; the character of all believers is so important. All the more so for those who want to lead us.
