Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.

Matthew 5:8

The pure in heart are pure of will, pure of motivation. People with this kind of spirit are not just rare, they are exposed to all of the abuses and all the mistreatment the world can manage. A person with a world-hardened, selfish heart can lie and hide their intentions, think like a worldly person and avoid the traps that the world sets.

But those who remain pure also have a greater advantage, a gift beyond gifts. They will see God because they are not clouded by selfish or impure motivations but are motivated by faith in God alone.
