Believer’s Prayer

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Mark 9:23

Jesus heals more than one person afflicted by an evil spirit during his earthly ministry. His authority as the chosen one of God was made more sure by such miracles. He also shared that ability with his disciples, but they failed to cast out the deaf and mute spirit in the boy in our chapter today. Jesus specifically says that the spirit could only be removed by prayer.

When we come up against obstacles in our lives, it can be easy to see them as only Earthly; people, circumstances and even forces of nature can be observed, felt and comprehended by our mortal minds. We must not forget that God is the God of all Creation and that all authority belongs to Jesus. When we pray, we must pray with a Spiritual mind, knowing that God is able to grant our requests. Whatever is impossible for us is an easy task for God, if we believe.
