Tremble, and do not sin;
Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
Psalm 4:4

There’s nothing harder when you are scared than trying to think of ways not to be afraid. The Lord gives us another option. When we are afraid, we can know that He provides for us, even when it is hard for us to see those gifts. We can take our thoughts and our focus and cast them outside ourselves.

Where many meditate by focusing ever inward, we can think on the things that surround us. The material and spiritual blessings that God heaps on us are too many to count. Meditation, in that way, is not a distraction from the chaos of the world but a refocus on the order and power of its Creator.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for all that you do. Thank you for all I am able to do through you. Help me to place the abundance of your power in me over my limitations in my mind and to find the peace that comes from that perspective. Amen.
