Diligent hands will rule,
but laziness ends in forced labor.

Proverbs 12:24

Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

1 Thessalonians 4:10b-12

The best way to avoid trouble is to be busy doing something good. This is not to the exclusion of rest, but it is the pattern for everyday work. We ought to keep God’s business in our minds so that we always have a productive, positive occupation rather than opportunities for sin. Boredom is one of the windows through which temptation finds a foothold.

Work well, and earn respect as your wages.
