How good and pleasant it is
Psalm 133:1
when God’s people live together in unity!
We want happiness, right? So why is it that we are so often tempted to squabble? It’s a frustrating feature of human nature that from time to time, people get something stuck in their craw and just go after each other when left unchecked. The perspective of the believer is to be supernaturally oriented toward unity and fitting to the supreme pattern that God has set forward for us, revealed in his Scripture.
That’s why we pursue unity rather than merely avoid strife. If we don’t cool down to cooperation or heat up to conflict, the lukewarm middle will make us miserable. There is danger in discord! But, on the other hand, how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!
