Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor, not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

Romans 12:10-13

We often think of our devotion to God in regards to our religion, and that is certainly important to our faith but key to the outward display of that faith is our devotion to one another. Paul, writing to the church in Rome, instructed them to demonstrate their devotion to one another in brotherly love.

How do we define that devotion? How do we practice it?

The remainder of that passage is a handy outline; if we contribute to one another’s needs and practice hospitality, for example, we assure that our material goods are devoted to one another and, in turn, to God’s work. If we remain fervent in spirit and devoted to prayer, we devote our spiritual resources to one another and to God.

So the message for today: put your devotion into practice and glorify God.
