The Lord provides for all of his Creation. Jesus used birds as an example of living in our blessings. They don’t need anything except what God provides, and they don’t long for the safety of stored up goods. They are content with just enough.

Even the sparrow has found a home,

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may have her young—

a place near your altar,

Lord Almighty, my King and my God.

Psalm 84:3 (NIV)

For us, the lesson is as much physical as it is spiritual. Sometimes we may wish for a little more. A little more physical comfort or a little more spiritual affirmation, just a sign or a signal that everything is going to be alright.

Jesus response to that? “Don’t worry about tomorrow because the day will have trouble all its own.” Let’s meditate on this idea today: Lord, help me learn to find assurance in the measure of faith and goods I have.
