Nahum spoke this prophesy to Nineveh:

The Lord has issued a command concerning you:
“Your name will no longer be perpetuated.
I will eliminate the carved image and the cast metal image
From the house of your gods.
I will prepare your grave,
For you are contemptible.”
Behold, on the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace!
Celebrate your feasts, Judah,
Pay your vows.
For never again will the wicked one pass through you;
He is eliminated completely.

Nahum 1:14-15

The Lord ensures no name but his own; the idols of men and the temples of their false gods will be ruined and forgotten. The declaration of peace has come, and the war has ended. God has won the conflict over the false deities.

What other victory do we aspire to and what challenge could be greater than the victory in the Spirit over the spiritual forces that lead people astray? That is the message we carry; we have a much more sure victory over Evil than could ever be won in this world.

So now, as ones who have received that message of victory, we celebrate and we await the return of our victorious King. He is not coming back to us to start a new conflict but to end all conflict. The rule of the Prince of Peace begins now, in our hearts, and continues forever after his return.

So celebrate your feasts, people of God and honor your promises for never again will the wicked one tear you apart. He has been completely eliminated. The name of our enemy will no longer be remembered.
