You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

James 4:4

What does it mean to be a friend of the world? It means being proud and haughty, not humble and disciplined. Being a good neighbor overrides the danger of being a friend of the world. How? By replacing the worldly desires of self indulgence with intentional kindness and prioritizing others, the good neighbor defeats the corruption of the world with Grace, both inward and outward. So to those in our world, we can be the greatest friend, but we will never embrace the values of this world and abandon both our neighbor and our God.
