“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

Jeremiah 32:27

I can tell you with some confidence, knowing nothing about your situation, that whatever wish you have, whatever goal you want to achieve, you are trying too hard. You should give up.

Let me be clear! It’s not that you should stop working to achieve things or that you should try something else, but you should unburden yourself of the emotional and spiritual weight of anticipation, longing and worry.

Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 7:9-12

Your primary concern and labor, aside from the mundane necessities of the material world, is to offer before God and your fellow men an attitude worthy of the gifts we know he faithfully waits to give us. We are not merely conducting ourselves in a productive and positive manner because that’s how we ourselves will attain our goals but because that creative work, a reflection of the Creator is what he is waiting to reward.

Notice that in the same breath where Jesus encourages reliance on the Heavenly Father, he instructs us with the oh-so-famous Golden Rule! We must do unto others, not because we are relying on their reciprocation when our turn comes up but because with the backing of God the Father, we can confidently do for them knowing we lack nothing.

So give up! God is better at handling your problems than you. Abandon pride and cling to the Father. He gives the best gifts.
