Who is God to me? If I could get anything without him, be anything without him, even exist without him, there is no meaning to acknowledging him. But for the believer, God is everything. There is nothing we can do apart from him.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
Psalm 16:2
apart from you I have no good thing.”
I could make lots of other things gods; when I was a sinner, fulfilling my own desires was my god (Philippians 3:18-19). I could hold other people up as gods and put my hope in human strength and wisdom (1 Corinthians 3:19). I could lean on material things and trust wealth (Matthew 6:24). But all of these fall short of the one true Creator and Lord.
Who is God to me? God is everything.
