Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12

How far off are your goals? Someone once said a goal without a plan is just a wish. If we have only fond and distant dreams, it is both too easy and too hard; too easy because those wishes are pretty things, untouched by real-world problems and too hard because we can never see them made real.

A hope we can count on has to be attainable. If you want to feel satisfaction, reach out for something you can touch, not something you can fondly wish for. Through Jesus, eternity is no longer a dream or a wish but a true hope, a thing we can trust (Hebrews 11:1). Eternal life is an attainable thing.

So whether it is in our everyday lives or in our spiritual understanding, let us fix our hopes on that which we can grasp and allow those victories, big and small, to ease our hearts and minds.
