How high is the sky? The clouds are up there pretty far but planes are commonplace and we can get above those rather affordably. The edge of the atmosphere is 60 miles up but that’s not unattainable. Satellites go there every day. Orbit is about twice that, but people live on the International Space Station year-round. The moon is really far, but it’s not impossible. People have been there a handful of times and we could go again if money is no object.

But the closest planet, that will take weeks and weeks. The closest star, a couple hundred years. The edge of what we can see will never be reached in a hundred thousand lifetimes. So how high is the sky?

As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:9

Further than the furthest thing we can see right now, and further than that. Deeper and deeper. The more we know, the more we realize how little we know. That’s what it’s like to try to fully fathom God.
