And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” They *said to Him, “Lord, we want our eyes to be opened.”
Matthew 22

“Where do you want to go to eat?” If you’ve ever had trouble answering that question, you know what it’s like to be burdened with an abundance of opportunity.

Prayer is, at its most basic, a request we make before God. When we pray, we need to have an actual request in mind, I believe. God is willing to work to heal unspoken hurts, it’s true, but when we know something we lack it falls to us to acknowledge that.

If you know exactly what you need but you don’t ask for it, why should you be surprised when you don’t get it? Ask and it shall be given. Look for it and you will find it. Knock on the door, and it will open.

Prayer

God of all good gifts, grant us our requests. More than that, help us to be those who know where we lack so that we can ask for those things. Amen.
