Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
2 Peter 1:1-4
To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust.
God has granted us everything we need to live a godly life through the knowledge of Him, Peter says, but he specifically says that he did so by His own glory and excellence; this is significant because, when we go to tell people about our relationship with God, we share those precious and magnificent promises God has granted us and the process starts all over! We share the glory and excellence of God and others are called. In this way, even more can escape the corruption of the world that comes from lust, that is to say misplaced desires, and become partakers in the divine nature as well!
