Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Deuteronomy 6:4

God is one.

There are no peers who can decry him, there are no rivals to try to topple him and take is position. God is the one and only God, not to make inferior the worshippers of the idols but by his very nature his is over that which is made because he is the Maker. There is no shame in claiming God as the one and only. We are merely repeating what he tells us about himself.

This truth is big and its consequences far-reaching. If God is the one and only God, and he wants a relationship with those who call out to him (Micah 4:2, Matthew 7:7-8), then there is only one God to answer to, only one set of expectations to learn and follow, only one relationship that matters.

Let us see our fellow people for what they are; people in need of the One and Only God.
