Wash and make yourselves clean.

Take your evil deeds out of my sight;

stop doing wrong.

Isaiah 1:16 (NIV)

We as Christians often get comfortable with our rules. We want clearly defined lines of right and wrong. This is understandable. When it comes to learning how to act, sometimes we need those specifics.

But when it comes to how we feel, things should be a lot more simple. God said “make yourselves clean.” Clean is clean. We shouldn’t feel dirty after bathing, we should feel refreshed, cleansed and prepared. The same can be said of our spiritual cleanliness.

If we are clean, we should feel clean. We should put aside filthiness and do good. That’s all there is to it. We should feel assured of that, not fretting over things God has already forgiven and removed.
