When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.

James 1:13-14

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

Matthew 4:1

Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

Deuteronomy 6:14-16

Compare your approach to temptation to our examples in Jesus and God the Father. “Unfair!” you may be saying, “I can’t be perfect!” but you can’t be intentionally imperfect either. Are you approaching temptation head on like Jesus, or setting up boundaries like God? Or do you sidle up to temptation with a little “whoops, my hand slipped” and let things slide? There is no temptation that is impossible to overcome only people unwilling to resist.
