If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

1 Corinthians 3:17

No church, maybe ever, has had the scandals and bad doctrine and all manner of other problems that the Church in Corinth had. Paul wrote to them at least 3 times, two letters of which we have. They never quite got it in the time of the New Testament writings.

And yet!

Paul still called them Christians. He called them the consecrated, sanctified, holy and set apart Temple of God. Not in the sense of a physical temple, but in their unity as a congregation the fullness of God in the Holy Spirit was pleased to dwell, overflowing with gifts of prophesy and other miracles.

Paul went so far to say that if someone destroyed that unified Temple, God would destroy that person. That is not the language we might expect for a pathetic, sin-weary, hard-hearted church but it was what Paul was inspired to write.

Imagine what God is willing to do to protect your Spiritual inheritance.
