Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 4:29

Sometimes all a person needs to hear is something good. We can take a dim view of the world and the people around it and many times that’s simply an accurate understanding and not cynicism. On the other hand, a solemn outlook or (let’s hope not) a jaded and calloused perspective is something entirely different. Christians are a people whose understanding of life is built on the hope of Salvation. Grace filled people don’t grumble!

Do all things without complaining or arguments; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding firmly the word of life, so that on the day of Christ I can take pride because I did not run in vain nor labor in vain.

Philippians 2:14-16

So as you talk today, remember to say something good. Say the words people need in order to see the Grace of God in us.
