Declare his glory among the nations,
1 Chronicles 16:24-26
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
David had just finished building the Tabernacle to the Lord in Jerusalem and he ordered that the Levites carry up the Ark of the Covenant and put it in its proper place there. Seeing this was completed, David sang a song to the Lord. David praised and worshiped him and celebrated the home of God being erected in David’s city.
God was not like the idols of foreign nations. He was a miraculous and gracious God, extending good things to the people and making his greatness known to other nations. Where the idols around were petty gods who were different from city to city, God was –and is– the living God, the One Creator over all.
Prayer
Lord God, you indeed are most worthy of praise. Help us to extend that praise to you and declare your glory in this world today. Amen
