Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

God wants us to listen to him. He wants us to remember what he says and look for what he does. The scriptures can guide us, but only if we go looking for guidance. Don’t neglect your chance to meet God like the Pharisees did; they fancied themselves experts on the whole Bible, understanding and interpreting it. When Jesus came, fulfilling the word that they were supposed to be experts on, they didn’t recognize him because they learned about the conversation between people about the scriptures and not the conversation between God and people through the scriptures.

Jesus’ name is “God with us”, but it only has meaning if we seek to be with him.
