I love the Lord, because He hears
My voice and my supplications.
Psalm 116

Prayer is too churchy of a word for what we need in our conversations about talking to God. I’m not suggesting we throw it out, but we should know what we mean when we say prayer.

Prayer, supplication, and petition are all common religious terms for making a Spiritual request before God. Putting aside for the moment the proper forms or respect that we often associate with this practice, it is really a simple thing.

We bring our wishes and concerns before God and ask Him to help. That is the basis for prayer. Have you done that lately? Have you spoken your honest wishes before God? Have you told Him your complaints? Have you brought out the things only He knows about to ask for guidance?

Prayer

Father God, help us to rely on you and remember we are allowed to make requests, and that you love to help your children. Amen.
