The word of the day is silence.

It is necessary in the course of the life of a follower of God to be silent and carry on in the good work of the Father from time to time. Listen, observe, pray.

Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent,

and discerning if they hold their tongues.

Proverbs 17:28

Keep this proverb in your heart today and measure your words carefully.

Imagine the person you talk to has an empty glass for each person they listen to, and whatever is spoken fills each glass a little more. We can fill our glass with something sweet or something bitter, something pure or something spoiled. But more than that, we can limit how much we fill; a sip of bitter medicine may do more than a glass full of the sweetest drink. A splash of cool water can refresh more than the richest cream.

People will hear many voices. You don’t have to exhaust their attention, just make good use of it. Be tasteful. Be refreshing. Be brief.
