But we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-15

The best kind of tradition we can pass on and hold onto is that which was originated by the apostles and has been established from the beginning for us to assure our holiness and salvation through the Spirit. All other tradition is subject to change, to removal or to being forgotten altogether.

Whatever the tradition of the apostles looks like, we must continue to stand firm and hold to it, knowing that it is not the fashion of the moment but the revelation of God that is worth protecting.
