We hear about court cases in the news from time to time. There is one thing that can be learned from them. When your lawyer tells you to be careful of your phrasing or not to speak at all, follow that advice!

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 14:26

Interesting, then, that Jesus called his Holy Spirit an Advocate, a legal defender and that the word that the Holy Spirit would provide were Jesus’ own words. The words that we speak on our own behalf are actually from and in defense of Jesus! If we go against his words, they will convict us but if we are faithful, we could ask for no better defense.
