It seems like lately it’s more surprising to hear good news than bad. We’re always up for a fight to the point where it can almost be a letdown to find out that there’s nothing to fight about once you pause. What a strange way to live, but yet here we are.

The one who searches for what is good finds favor, but if someone looks for trouble, it will come to him.

Proverbs 11:27 (HCSB)

I realize that this might not apply to everyone in every case but if I stung your conscience even a little, I hope you can learn to be happily disappointed!

If we go out looking for the bad, we will surely find it. There’s plenty to find! But the person who goes out looking for good also gets good in return. Jesus said this:

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or what person is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? So if you, despite being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Matthew 7:7-11

So for now, learn to be happily disappointed when you go looking for a fight and can’t find one and instead, begin turning your attention to looking for the good! You will never regret seeking the Kingdom first!
