Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

John 1:3

Let us take a moment to think of the parts of God which he has shown to us. His destructive power and wrath which brought the Flood which destroyed the ancient world, burnt Sodom and Gomorrah and punished the wicked is undoubtedly awesome and terrible. His justice is equally as frightening; as lawgiver and judge, he doles out punishment without hesitation or fear of reprisal because he is supreme. His qualities and aspects go on and on, they are as innumerable as He is omnipotent.

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Colossians 1:15-18

So what part of God was embodied in Christ? What power was expressed in his incarnation and life on Earth? The power of Creation! That was demonstrated all the more after his death, because nothing humans could do to his Earthly body could stop his life, he was resurrected.

It is into that death we are buried in baptism. We join with the power of God which created the world we inhabit. We are united under that power as our head and he holds his Church together just as his power holds the universe together.
