Siddhartha Gautama, later known as the Buddha, taught for 40 years. Muhammad wrote the Quranic texts and seized Mecca in a 20 year span. Jesus taught on Earth for 3 years.

Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me.”

John 7:33

It wasn’t the length of Jesus’ work on Earth that gave him legitimacy. He didn’t need to build a good reputation and establish a “real” religion in the judgement of the people around him. Jesus came and revealed a divinely inspired truth; that all people need salvation from their guilt and that God is willing to give it.
