“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

John 13:34-35 (NIV)

Somewhere along the line, we were taught that Christians are supposed to hate themselves and love others. We hate the sins we have committed in the past, we hate the potential, inevitable sin of the future, we hate, hate, hate ourselves.

The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:16 (NIV)

If you are a Christian who has indulged in the grace of God and been saved, and especially if you want others to be saved in the same way, set a good example for new or weaker people in the faith. Let them know that God’s love must extend both inward and outward.
