Praise the Lord, all you nations;
    extol him, all you peoples.
For great is his love toward us,
    and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 117

The Psalms were Hebrew worship songs, designed to be performed before the Tabernacle and the Temple, before the Ark of the Presence. They were for the chosen people, and they were sung in a holy place, away from Gentile ears. Yet here is a psalm calling on those very Gentile nations to worship God. Why? Because the world was being invited to worship, and in a way those worshippers before the Ark could never anticipate. Jesus, God himself, would come into the world and unite the nations into one, holy nation before the Lord.
