“I love it when a plan comes together.”
Lord, you are my God;
Isaiah 25:1
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.
God has a plan for you. You’ve heard that before. But why should we care? God has plans for our enemies, for animals, for the planet, for the universe. Why should we even think about the plan? After all, we mere mortals can’t make the plan go our way.
God does not just make a plan. He makes a plan an faithfully carries it out, moreover, he carries it out with the intent to work good. He rescues the suffering, he lifts up the humble, he does good to those who are downtrodden. So when we say “God has a plan,” we don’t simply distract ourselves from momentary troubles with a vague promise of things getting better, we look back to all the good God has done and forward to that which we see that he will do.
