A man has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word! Proverbs 15:23
But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. 1 Peter 3:14-16

Do you remember a time when a teacher asked a question and you raised your hand to answer right away? Being able to provide the correct response was not only satisfying to you in that moment, but it felt good to get praise from the instructor on your prompt and quick response!

As Christians, the main reason we gain knowledge is not in order to correct or scold those who don’t know as much as we do, or even to get praise for a right answer. However, if we are prepared with good answers and we find good timing, answering when it is called for helps us to feel confident in out knowledge and helps others feel satisfied that there are answers to their questions. We should enjoy that!

Be ready to be called on, and you will also be ready to volunteer answers!
